The ultimate goal of Wilderness advocates is implementing the UNITED
NATIONS Wildlands Project to make over 50% of America off limits to
human use.
Areas in RED would
allow little or no human use. In the West the majority of the areas
not in RED would be highly regulated buffer zones

Over 50% or 101,000,000 acres of your public lands have already been
closed to most uses.
Over seven acres an hour of your public lands are
proposed this year to be closed to most uses via Wilderness, or other
restrictive designations, without public involvement.
Access to
your favorite places could be closed soon unless you
take action to
protect it.
BOXER S-493 BILL
PROPOSES TO CLOSE VAST MAJORITY OF REMAINING MULTIPLE USE LANDS IN
CALIFORNIA
In California 36 new inappropriate Wilderness areas containing over
1,100,000 acres, are proposed in Senator Boxer's S-493 bill.
Here is a link to websites listing each proposed Wilderness addition including
maps.

Here is a link to the complete
S-493 Wilderness bill including the list of 36 areas proposed
for closure.
None if any of these areas have been recommended for
Wilderness designation by the Forest Service, yet the drafters of
the bill know better & are seeking to make backroom deals to close
these lands to most uses without public involvement. This bill
failed in 2002 & 2006 but it keeps coming back to haunt us. Each
of these areas proposed for closure are part of the RED areas on the
Wildlands project map above.
"WILDEST BILL ON THE HILL" PROPOSES TO CLOSE OVER 21% OF MULTIPLE
USE LANDS
Another 2007 bill, the “Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act”,
appropriately nicknamed the “Wildest Bill on The Hill”, because it
truly is outrageous, proposes to make 35% (26,000,000 acres) of
remaining forest lands off limits to most of the public, to remove
6300 miles of much needed access roads at great expense to
taxpayers, restrict over 1800 miles of rivers, create a million acre
pilot program to remove more existing roads, restrict further lands
by expanding two national parks & creation of “Biological Linkage
Corridors” ( as in the above Wildlands Map). All without public input, driven by a minority of vocal
well funded special interest groups.
Drafters of the bill tout
short-term jobs created removing roads as a boon to local economies
that will replace long-term logging jobs lost. Yet road removal is a
drain on the taxpayers, reduces tourism revenue by reducing tourism
access, eliminates roads needed to control wildfires & increases
greenhouse gas emissions by encouraging wildfire; while logging
produces a renewable product, reduces wildfire fuels, reduces
greenhouse gas emissions, as well as creating jobs & paying taxes in
perpetuity.

NEW DEFINITION OF WILDERNESS??
Most people would agree that heliports, airstrips, cell towers,
television/radio towers, radio repeaters, associated access roads,
power lines, phone lines, structures, fence lines, areas with less
than 70% federal ownership, developed campgrounds & tree plantations
would not qualify as Wilderness “untouched by the hand of man”. Yet
in January 2007 the Forest Service released
FSH 1909.12 including all of the
above as areas to be considered for future Wilderness additions.
Somehow the Forest Service has taken it upon themselves to change
Congressional legislation, as well as help implement the UNTIED
NATIONS Wildands Project to make over 50% of America off limits to
the public.
FOREST SERVICE RSFMP PROPOSES TO CLOSE 50% OF DEVELOPED SITES
While not yet fully released to the public, the new Forest Service
RSFMP Recreation Site Facility Master Plan appears to be proposing
to decommission or close about 50% of the National Forests developed
recreation sites, supposedly in order to make our forests pay for
themselves. The Washington DC Forest Service office recently
authorized the use of two years
($93,000,000) of user fees to fund the closure of recreation facilities, instead
of maintaining them. Considering these proposed closures & the new false Wilderness FSH
1909.12 standards, it appears every public land would qualify in
this no land left open to the public campaign of the UNITED NATIONS
WIldlands Project.

Numerous groups support
the Wildlands Project without informing their membership. If you are
opposed to prohibiting the public from their public lands then you
may wish to voice your concerns to these organizations, as well as
terminate your memberhship.
According to research by Dr. Michael Coffman the following are some
of the more notable groups supporting the WIldlands Project:
The Sierra Club
Friends of the Earth
Audubon Society
The Nature Conservancy
National Wildlife Federation
The Wilderness Society
Defenders of Wildlife
American WIldlands
